It was World Children’s Day on Saturday – a day that celebrates children, and what better way to celebrate children than to improve their quality of life in the school playground?

How Can You Improve Your School’s Playground?

Every good playground should have a place for all children to be able to be themselves, develop their skills, get physical exercise, and learn in an outdoor environment.

At Thermmark, we think it is important to encourage children to be themselves and promote positive mental health in themselves and their peers, building friendships with each other and developing their social skills. We have some thermoplastic playground markings that help children to do this on the playground, so that they feel included, can express their feelings in a healthy way and play games together.

We also believe that all children should have a place to get active in fun ways, and we have everything from fitness trails to Mile a Day playground markings, to playground hopscotches, and sports courts of all varieties. A great space saving idea is to include multi courts that combine all your favourite sport into one court.

Providing fitness markings for your pupils help to structure games and activities, helping to reduce set up and clear up times at break times, lunch times, and in PE lessons. They also help to give children a more stimulating playground that helps them to make up new games, play together, developing teamwork and friendship skills.

On the other hand, we also think that an overlooked aspect of playground markings is the fact that they can help children to learn outside of the classroom. We have all sorts of markings to help with learning on the playground, such as phonics markings, times tables markings, alphabet markings, maps, and science markings, including our popular solar system marking, which helps children to visualise space in a way that a book never could.

Most of all, we believe playtime should be fun, and you can accomplish this by choosing markings with vibrant colours, engaging themes, and a variety of games and activities.
