ST OSWaLD’S PRIMARY SCHOOL
FRESH TARMAC FOR OUR FRESH DESIGNS
Challenge
St Oswald’s Primary School was having a playground make-over, complete with freshly installed tarmac and brand new Thermmark thermoplastic markings. By laying new tarmac it would ensure even surfaces and a smart appearance, but it would also cause some issues with timescales as it needs to cure before markings can be installed.
In addition, a common issue that clients often have is that they’re unsure how the markings they want will fit into the space they have. This can cause a lot of uncertainty in committing to the project, or selecting the markings they really want, leading to disappointment.
Solution
To reassure our client and help with their decision making, we produced an accurate playground plan. This visual allowed St Oswald to see exactly how their desired markings would all work well together and fit the space.
By working with the client in advance and knowing the progress of their playground development, we were able to schedule the installation at a date that allowed time for the tarmac to cure properly.
Outcome
Having a good relationship with the client meant that the project could progress at a timescale that worked for everyone, including accommodating the tarmac’s curing time. The playground plan also helped the communication of the project, so that everyone knew what the finished result would be.
In the end the fresh tarmac ended up enhancing the new markings, as the thermoplastic’s pigment looked even more vibrant in contrast. And the tip-top condition means that our markings will last even longer!
