Our Sundial playground marking is a fantastic educational tool. Using your position in the UK we make the marking to order.
All you need to do is find true north and mark it on the floor in the position that you desire the marking to be installed and we will do the rest!

So how do you find true north?

Mobile phone compass apps tend to give differing results so its probably easier to take an analogue watch and point the hour hand at the sun then locate the position of the 12 O’clock in relation to this, then bisect or in other words halfway between the 12 position and the hour hand (still pointing at the sun) is the position of South. Mark a line on the floor in the direction of south. There are plenty of tutorials on how to do this on the internet.

The sundial playground marking will be made bespoke to your specific GPS co-ordinates and cut accurately on our in house precision waterjet.
You can choose either roman numerals or standard numbering. Time will be set at daylight saving time as this will give the most sunny days maximising the sundials use, although this can be changed if preferred.

Standard width of the sundial playground marking is 2.5m although this can be increased (extra cost will apply).
